Blum put the issue simply in the Chamber of Deputies: "Either you vote for me or for the banks." The Government demanded an authoiflfsation to take by decrees all the necessary steps to assure restoration of public confidenee and to combat attaeks on the currency and public credit. The Chamber passed the measure by 346 votes to 247. but the Sonate rejected tha Bill.
