Annual Match for Love Cup

PORANGAHAU, Last Night. As the Porangahau football team nrcw a bye in the Central H.B. competitirn on Saturday, the opportunity was taken to play the East Coast SubUnion's annual match for tlie Love cup. The South team, which consists mostly of players who have been unable to play in any team this year, put up a splendid performance against the North team, which has most of the players from the Porangahau team. The winning try was scored by North in the last minute of ihe game, when Kmu, the half back, made an opening and passed to Ross, who evaded all his opponents and scored a spectacular try. Scorers for North: E. Gook, H. Cook, Ross, try each. Pahi kicked a penalty and converted a try. Scorers for South: Bond, J. Herbert, Coley, try each, and Bassett kicked a penalty. The final score was: North 14, South J2. Mr J. Ha Ica refereod. rIha East Ooast Sub-Union intends to try and play its usual annual fixtures when the competitions have concluded.
