Thieves Rifle Offertory Boxes

CHRISTCHURCH, LasUNight. The Iioman Catholic Cathedral in Baibudoes street and St. Maty's Catholic Chureh in Manchester street were both entored by thieves on Fridav niglit and thp offertory boxes rifled. Entrance was gained in both cases by brealcing tlirough the leadlights, tliat iu the door of St. Mary's Cliurch being renioved. Effoits were made to open all the offertory boxes bqt some of them could not be opened. Jt is not known how much money was in thoso which the thieves suceeeded in opentng, but it is thought (hat Ihe unuHints were not \ exy large.
