WITH THE HOUNDS
Very Enjoyable Meet at Pukehamoamoa BEST RUN FOR YEARS (Contributed). The Hunt met at Pukehamoamoa on Tuesday last. The meet was arf&nged by kind permission from Mrs. Jonathan Holden and Mr. Gawen Holden. The meet was at Mr. Davies' house. A hare was put up between the house and the Okawa road, and it took us straight up the flata to the lower hills, and was turned by cattle. We followed until the hare crossed .an impossible swamp. Hounds followed scent and got half-a-mile break on the field. At length we lost in anotlxer swaoip. Finding immediately in rushes on the Matapiro road, we kunted across Okawa towards the point plantation, over tho creek by the bridge, then over to the Okawa dip, back on to the old "Puketapu road, through the Grove and out again through droving paddocks to the school. At the latter hazard we lost our Master through misadventure. He is recovering. From this time on we had the . best and fastest uninterrupted run of years, gOing from the place of meeting' across all the Pukehamoamoa flats, both Holden and Lowry, across Crownthorpe road, up to the lagoon beneatk Mr. T. Elliott's house, then across his country back over the Holden foothills down to the Kawera maize, to lose in the blackfcerries and deep swamp. Nothing short of five miles was . this run, and as good as can be got. •' We re turned to 'the house and were hospitably welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Davies, of Pukehamoamoa. We thank thern, very much.
