Funds For Waipukurau Queen

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Supporters of tno Oentral Hawke 's Bay Kugby carnival are all working very hard for the various queens. On fciaturday afternoon Mrs J. U. Clarkson was hostess at a very enjoyable progressive br-dge party, which was beid at her residence, (Jhurch street, for the Waipukurau queen, Miss Shirley Clay. Mrs Clarkson, wearing a gown fashioned in deep red wool crepe, havmg a vestee and turned-down collar in flesh pink georgette, finished with a diamante ciasp, received her many guests, who very quickly settled down to '& happy afternoon of bridge m the spacious lounge-room, which looked very cbeery with a big log fire, and decorated with bowls of golden iceland poppiea. During an interlude, a delicious afternoon tea was served, Mrs Bob Bicketts returned the highest score. receiving a dainty gift, and Mrs A. McBae was the winner of the cake competition. Among those prcscnt wore: — Miss Shirley Clay, Mesdamcs C. Hartland, J. F. Dunbar, A. L. McCormick, F. Hewitt, J. Allwood, A. M. Whito, Nelson-Huuter, W. Henderson, A. O. Williams, D. Eadie, V. Bradloy, J. H. Walker, W. Cuthbcrt, B. Bicketts; Misses J. Sonimcrvillc, A. Eood. E. Bensen, B. Mitchell. Mesdamcs W. B. Fisher and G. E. Gideon, who were unable to be present, sent donations.
