Theft of Sheep

A further case of sheep-stealing in Poverty Bay is reported from the property of Mr Swarbriek, Te Piki Station, Wharerata. It is stat'ed that 50. breeding ewes are missing from this property, and a reward of £50 has been offered for information leading to the arrest of any person comiected witli this loss. Mr Swarbriclc stated yesterday tbat he kept a colitinual check on his tallies, but there might be one or two more or less thau the 50 he natned. The sheep were valued at £100 and in offering the £50 reward it was liis endeavour to secure a conviction and stamp out 'tlie xiractice of stealing sheep. He had not had his place interfered with prior to this- -Gisborne.
