(Received 17, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, June 16. "c One of the most signifieaivt deTelopments in the international sitijation for a considerable time is Britain's invitation to the German Fpreign Minister, Baron von Keufath. The faet that the invitation oecurs almost simnltaneously with Mr. Neville Chamberlain 's assmnption of the Prime Minister 's offiee is of considerable signilicanee, especially as a growing tendency is evident within the Cabinet towards better AngloGerman relations. "Thottgh the Foreign Offiee says that no negotiations are oceurring and continues to regard the sitnation. frigidly, - considering that there is ho more -chance of a iWestern European Pact now than before, Britain's policy is to seek a Western Paet as a prelude to a gefiera! Entopean settleraent. This must inevitably be the outstanding problem discussed. An earlier British Official Wireless liiessage announeed that Baron Von Neurath, German Foreign Minister, will visit London on June 23 as the official guest of His Majesty's Govlernment. It is stated that no negotiajtions are .under contemplation, but it is hoped that Baron von Neurath 's visit will offer an opportunity for an exchange of views on international matters of cominon interest to the two eountries and particularly on the Spanish civil war problem. There has fieen no . chance for 18 months for contaets between Baron , von Neurath and Mr. Anthony Eden, the Foreign Secretarv, although both in the interval have been in personal jtouch with the Foreign Ministerg of other European Powers and visits have also been paid to Paris by Dr. H, Bchachf, German Minister of Ecoixo®ics, The subject which almost eertainly will come under raview is the future of negotiations Tegarding the propaged ■Western Pact which hua been the snb' jeet of diplomatic exehanges in recent rnonths. The Freneh, Government has been informed of Baron Von N'nrath's impending visit. m
