Hastings Rugby Coach's Letter to Union TEAM WILLING TO PLAY Eumonrs are current that the Hastings senior Eugby fifteen will default to Pirates if the deeision to play the game at Napier on Saturday is adhered to. The game was originally set down ror Hastings. A peouliar position has arisen in that, although the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union has received a letter from the coach of the Hastings club, Mr Fearson, that the whole team is unanimous in refusing to play Pirates in Napier out of turn, Mr A. Kirkpatrick told the union last evening that the players were not aware of the letter and were Teady and willing to play in Napier. "The Hastings elub doesn't know anything about the letter," said Mr Kirkpatrick when the matter was discussed at the union meeting in Napier last evening. "The players and the club captain were present at the subunion meeting when the change of venue was decided upon, and were agreeable, if it would help the congested position, to play at Napier. "The senior players at Nelson Park last night lcnew nothing about the matter, and they are holding a meeting at seven o'clock to-morrow evening to dis* euss the matter," he added. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of Mr Kirkpatrick and Mr A. E. Young to come to a deeision nad arrange the match aecordingly.
