PROVINCIAL PERSONALS
Mr L. V. Hallagan, of Hastings, has been appointed a member of the office staff at the Pukeora Sanatorium. He je a well-known footballer, having plsyed for the Celtic Club, Hastings. Formerly he was a member of the first fifteen at St. Pat's College, Silverstream. Dr 'Craig Clay, of- Wellington, has been appointed resident medical officer to the Waipukurau District Hospital, in place of Dr. A. G. -Bell, who has resigned his position in order to proceed to England. He terminated his services to-day. Nurses M. Aston and A. Howard, of the staff of the Waipukurau District Hospital, have returned to duty after being absent on sick leave. . George Winlove, who suffered injaries in a car accident a little more taau a week ago, is still a patient at tho Waipukurau District Hospital, but is piogressing favourably. Miss Joan Fowler, of the staff of the Waipukurau Telephone Exchango is a patient at the Waipukurau District Hospital. Sister J. Borthwick, of the nursing staff at Pukeora Sanatorium, has rerugned her position and is to leave Waipukurau at the, end of this month. Mr Wi Te Kahu, a well-known Maori chief of the Mohaka district, who had dunng his life commanded the highest respect from the pakeha as weli as iiom the members of his own race passed away last week at the age of 8o years. He was a grcat chieftain of the Nga-i-ti-Owha, Ngali-Paroa and Aga-i-ti-Eau tribes. To mourn their loss are two sons, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The Eev. Hcnil Huata ofiiciated at the graveside.-
