BRIDE CHOOSES GREEN VELVET WEDDING GOWN

McCORMICK— JACKSON A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hastings, recently, when Myrtle (Joy), third daughter 1 of Mr and the late Mrs J. W Brown, of Marlborough, was married to Robert Arthur, second 6on of the late Mr and Mrs A. McCormick, of Hastings. The Rev. D. J. A. Shaw officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr J. Barry, of Wellington, wore a fitting gown of green chiffon velvet fashioned with a Queen Anne collar linished with a diamante clasp and spray of orange blossom. She wore green shoes and a green liat and carried a bouquet of lemon and gold chrysanthemums, freesias and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Lilian Dempster (Dunedin), chief, and Miss Bertha Elmers, who were gowned alike in red ring velvet, fashioned with flared basques and gold belt clasps. They wore red velvet hats with gold leaves, gold shoes and carried bouquets of golden chrysanthemums, French marigolds and ferns. Two little page boys, Alan Jackson and Derek Whittaker, were dressed alike m nigger brown suits. Mr W. Corner, of Napier, was the best man, and Mr A. Isaacson the groomsman. As the bride and bridegroom left the church the bride was presented with a beautifully decorated horseshoe by Miss Ada Whittaker. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Rialto tearooms, where the guests were feceived by Mrs Ogilvie who wore a navy tailored costume wit\x navy hat and accessories and carried a bouquet of carnations and cyclamen. She w.as assisted by Miss McCormick, the bridegroom 's sister, whowore a navy coat over her floral georgette frock with a navy hat. Her bouquet was also in pink shades. The reception was a very happy one and several toasts were honoured during the breakfast. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon in the south the bride travelled in a rust-shaded woven suit with a brown coat, shoes and hat.
