There was a strange mistake at the outset, the principal clerk, Sir Adrian Pollock, liescribing Mr. Savage as "Priine Minister of Ganada." Mr. Savage and Mr. Lyons received > dainty godd casket eontaining tho Jocument conferring the freedom. Mr. Savage alluded to the Coronation '« manifestations of the people 's love of their Majesties, as well as an cndorsement of the' democratic form of government, and hoped that the Empire's commercial ties would be I strengthened in the future.: London 's igreatness made him prouder to be its • freeman. New Zealand had introduced iiiiore human legislation than any couni try, and ■ would be even tnore progresI :-ive in the future. Guests at the Guildhall also included i Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nasb, Sir James | Parr, Mies Parr, and the AgentsGeneral of the Dominions. Luncheon in the Egyptian room at tne Mansion House followed. The Lord Mayor, proposing the'toast of the new freemen, declared that London was delighted to honour men who had thrown ( self aside and devoted their lives in ; service to the nation. It was dus ■ largely to the quality of such men that : the Empire Was so well governed. Mr. Savage said that if Mr. Lyons and himself had made happier thoso countries whose people had sent them to London," they would have done their duty. , . ^ "Whether I am Prime Mimster_ or just working for a living Prime Ministers do not work for a living, they -just take it when it comes— it makes no difference. I shall always be mdebted to those associated with me and shall do rny best ' to get even with them if they can only reach New ZeaJand and enter the Prjme Mimster'a office." ;
