Economic Employment
PEOGRESS.
Sir, — The time has arrlved in Hawke's Bay, and it is surely not beyond the capaeity of our public men, more especially those serving on local bodies, to evplve a scheme in conjunction with the Government and its various departments, which will provide economic employment for the approximately one thousand men now on sustenance. ' Judging by the statements of prominent men re this problem which have recently appeared in your paper, something cpncrete will result from the conference of local bodies which is to be held on June 24. The general public certainly expect someting beyond mere words, and the man who does nothing beyond blaming the other fellow will have some awkward questions to answer later on.— - Yours, ctc.,
Hastings, June 14, 1937.
