In 35 minutes inelusive of time for takin'g off and landing, the Kuaka, one oi the two Loekheed monoplanes in readiness for the new Main Trunk serviee, made a suceessfnl trial flight from Milson to Rongotai yesterday, making an easy landing at the southeril airport. The return flight was maie in similar time, the machine landing. at about flve 0 'cloek. Mr. Moye W. Stephens, test pilot, sent to New Zealand by thO Lockheedi manufacturers, was at the controls. Others who made the trip were Messrs. Maurice Clarke, manager for Union -Airways; W. Hindle, repesentative in tihe Dominion fo the LoOkheed agents; Norman Adam, pilot for the New Zealand agehts; B. A. BlythB) -A. G. Gerf rand, G. R» White (Union Airways pilots); D. E. Hixon, a Loekheed engineef; L. Maiigham, fehief gfoiind engineer for tfnion Airways; and Mr». Patterson, Ms assistant. Mr. Btephens tbld a reporter last fevening that he was perfectiy satisfled with Rongotai as a landing ground for the Lockheeds. With the wind flaps, Out, they were able to come dowa' directly over the hills at the southern approaoh, with perfect safety, .
