MRS SARAH OLDS
The death early on Sunday morning of Mrs Sarah Olds, wife of rMr John Olds, of Southampton street. Hastings, further reduced the link.with the early settlement days of this district. The late Mrs Olds. who was in her 85th year, came to New Zealand as the bride of Mr Olds about 64 years ago, and the couple cele'brated the diamond jnbilee of their marriage .iust two years ago. For many years they were engaged in farming on the outskirts of Hastings, near Tollemnehe road, and about 30 years ago retired t.n take up refiidence iu Southampton street. The late Mrs Olds was a strong adherent of the Methodist Chureh, and, though she took no prominent part fn nublie life, was ever a willing worker on behalf of those in distress. Possessed of a bright and svmpathetic oeusonality, she was beloved by all who knew her well and was liighly respected by all who came in contaet with her. Except for- her husband, there is 110 surviving family. The funeral took place at the Havelock North Cemetery yesterday afternoon, and the big attendance and wealth of floral tributes adequatel.y expressed the sympathy and condolence of a Wide eirele of friendships.
