DAMAGE BY RATS
Owner of Furniture Claims Damages lf you were to store5 furniture and durin gthe period of storage damage was caused by rats, coiild you claim damages against the storage company? This was decided in the Napier Magiscrate's Court this morning by Alr. j. Miller, S.M., in a reserved judgment. He held that if all reasonable care had been taken by the storage company damages could hot be allowed, The case was that of Rushbrook v. Williams and Creagh, and the elaim was for damage sustained to furniture stored with the defendauts in their store and Avhich, during the period of storage, had been g.« .wed by rats. His Worship dealt witb the liability of lirms storing goods in cases of this kind and said that if all reasonable uare were taken no claim for damages could be upheld. He considered that all reasonable care had been taken in this case and therefore gav© judgment for the defendants, with 10 guineas O" »'.s
