Havelock North's 12th Birthday The Havelock North Women's Institute celebrated its twelfth birthday last week when there was a good attendance in the evening of husbands and friends, as well as of members. The president, Mrs cnapmun-Taylor, welcomed all visitors, and proceedings opened with the National Anthem, follciwed.by the Institute song and aspiration, After the necessary announcements had been made, the president vaeated the chair and Mrs Buck, the members' representative, took charge of the concert programme. This included two excellent one-act plays. The first, "Ali the Cobbler," was given by members of the Havelock North Women's Institute literary eircle, under Mrs Turnqr-Williams ' direction, which depicted some of the domestic joys and troubies of a Moham- . medan family, and at once the audience was tfansported into an Eastern atmosphere. Meads took the part of Ali's shrewish wife Fatima, and Mr de Montalk was her cousin, Mustapha. Three members of the Hastings Townswomen's Guild play-roading circle, Mesdames Riley, Crawford, and Deans, were all much at home in a bright and amusing play, "Mr Samson," which held the attention from start to finish.
