Three People Receive Serious Injury STEERING GEAR FAILS

AUCKLAND, This Day. Three people wefe injured when h baby car and a Passenger Transport Company 's bus, erowed with passengers, came into collision on the Great South Road near Otahuhu about 8 o'clocs this morning. The injured, all of whom were passengers in the small car, are: Miss Margaret Galloway, aged 23, oi Papakura, serious head injuries; her brother, Gordon Galloway, of Palmerston North, serio-u® head injuries; and a Mr Smart, believed to be a relative. serious head injuries. All are in hospital. The bus was travelling from Otahuhu to Auckland. When passing the Chureh street intersection, it suddenly veered across the road owing, it is alleged, to the steering gear f ailing to functioii, and crashed head-on into the small car which was pushed back for 16 yards and was jammed against a stone wall, being badly smashed. "Passengers in the bus, apart from shock, escaped injury. The bus was siightly damaged.
