POVERTY BAY WINS

GISBORNE, Last Night. In a game marked by dropped passes and lost opportunities, Poverty Bay scored a lucky win over Wairarapa by 34 — 11. Although Wairarapa were slow in settling down, once they did so they shadowed the Bay in all departments except loose forward play. The visiting backs were more dangerous in attacking* but possibilities were mitigated -by faulty positional play. Bay early had Wairarapa troubled, being' eight points up in the first 25 minutes. From then on Wairarapa held a elightly upper hand and both back Iinep made. efforts lo open up the game. Sharp stood out in the Bay . chain,"' while at full-back Brown was . solid.
