Waipawa Plunket, Society, The monthly meeting of the Waipawa Plunket Society was held oii- Thursday evening. Present Mesdames Furminger (in the chair), Towers,. Pe.pjper.ell, Bryant, Eagle, Preston, F. H. Edwards and Spicer (secretary). The report of the nurse and the hnancial statement for the month were adopted. The secretary reported having received a- letter from - Nurse Tonkin, stating that she had applied for the position of senior nurse in the Gisborne branch, and beadquarters had been notified of the safne. Tenders received for the erection of a garage on 1 the society' s premises in Kenilworth street had been forwarded to the Advisory Board. ' Mayor Entertains. To mark the completion of bis second year of otfice as Mayor, IMr C. G. E. Harker last evening, at the conclusion of tho monthly meeting of the Waipawa Boroughi Council, ente»tained the members oi .the council, staff and representatives of the Press at supper at his residenqe in Domain road. The toast of the Mayor and Mayoress was proposed by the Deputy-Mayor; Mr F. Eagle, in felicitous terms, and Mr Harker, in acknowledgment, expressed hjs appreciation of the sympatlietic co-operation he had at all times received in carrying ou the work of the borough.Court . Littlejohn. . There was a very -good -attendance at thj annual meetmg of Court Littlejohn A.O.F, Iield last evening in Waipawa, O.R. Bro. R. Dunkin presiding.- • One new; member Was ihitiated. A very interesting address- 'was given' by Bro. Woodruffe deScribing a' r'ecent caravan tour of the'North Island. Supper was served by the social coirimitteev . School Football. A good game of Rugby was witnessed at Waipawa yesterday when a teanj l'rom the Waipukurau Higli School lost to Waipawa High School by 18 points to 5. Two teams from the Waipukurau primary sehoo] journed to Otane, where they won both games, the A team by 14 points to 9, aud the B team by -14 to nil. '••• '
