The Ooronation Tattoo at Aldershot, m which 6000 troops participated fittingly, opened with an assembly of over 100 multi-coloured banners represonting every Dominion, Stato and CJolony in tho Empiro, borno by some of tho tallest guardsnion in the British Ariuy, Wearing designed' "Imperial livery" of scarlefc and gold witli the Kiug's monogram on the breast, the banner bearers, escorted by the Coldstream Guards and the Seaforth Highlanders in the brilliance of pre-war uniforms, marched past to the air of "Rule Britannia,' ' which Was intended to commemorate the courage and enterpraise of the mariners who assisted in the ereation of the Empire. The banners reappeared to represent the Empire when the massed bands of 24 regiments and thousands of musieians rendered Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus as a thanksgiving for the Coronation and they also participated in the final speetacle assen ed round a gigantic golden liort elasping a silken flag, emblazoned with the imperial Crown and tlie King's 'ivery eolours, symbolisiflg the Empire 's greatest link. Despite a thunderstorm drenching the performers and thousands of spectators and lightning rivalling the searchlights, the pageantry was earried ,out in its full magnificauc'o,
