Woreester defeated New Zealand by 136 runs. Kew Zealand recovered gloriously for the first time during the tour, deigonstrating their capacity to fight back in a difficult situation bn a rather helpful wicket. Seven wickets fell for **68 runs in an hour during the morning and the tourists were then in a desperate situation. Weir and Lowry rescued them with a magnificent stand, playing with watchful care until lunch, when the score was 139. While Lowry defended stoutly., Welr fiercely attacked the bowling after ; lunch, hitting to every part of the field with some glorioue straigiht driving and leg hitting, and reached a chanceless century, his first of the tour, in two hours, scoring 60 runs in i the seco-nd hour. Lowry fell to a cateh close in on the leg side after two hours patient batting, having helped to add 146 in only 110 minutes, It wag the best paftnership of the tour. '

With Gallichan, Weir continued confidently, driving strongly on both sidos of the wicket. He earried his bat, having run up 134 in two and. a-halt hours. This mcluded 14 fourg and two sixes.
