CARNIVAL ATMOSPHERE AT HIBERNIAN LODGE'S SUCCESSFUL DANCE
A gay assembly made merry at the Oddfellows' Hall, Hastings, on Weduesday evening, when the Hibernian Lodge held a most successful carnival dance. The hall was brightly decorated, and the gay balloons, streamer danoes, with noisy squeakers lent the real carnival atmoephere. Mr Don McCalman, the M.C., kept proceedings merry to the bright music of Mr J. Puriri' s jazz band. Prizes. were won by Miss Mary Wremi and partner, Mr Pat O'Sullivan, and Miss P. Wrighjj and partner, In the card-room " honours went to: Women, Mrs Williamson 1, Mrs E, McCarthy 2. Gentlemen, Messrs Tout and J. Hughes. Every credit is due to Mesdames Wright and Halligan who, with their band of helpers, arranged a most delectable supper, which was fully appreoiated. The dance terminated at 1 a,m, with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne," and the Natiqnal Anthem. Among the bright party were seen : — Miss WoLffram (Pukehou), white net over ivory satin trimmed with rosettes and velvet eape. Miss Hannah, ivory organdie over pink with fluted collar. Miss • J. Kelleher", floral pique voile with pink clasp, Miss K. McDonnell, salmon pink matalasse, with silver sequins. Miss M. Kelleher, red, silk marocain with pu^ sleeves and full skirt. Miss Norah Wren, blue silk marocain with cowl collar. Miss Mary Wrenn, pink eape =crepe, full rucked skirt, puff sleeves and cowl neck. Miss R, WaU, lemon satin with white flowers and white coatee. Miss Peggy Thompson," black lace with red ooatee. Miss M, Harding, floral pmk georgette, with pink net godets. Miss Betty Alexander, pink sand crepe tunic of pink net trimmed1 with blue. Miss H. Cook, blue floral diinity with blue1 taffeta coatee. Miss M. Andersoii, floral moire taffeta, scarlet trimming. Miss A. Andersoii. aprlcot ^taffeta, quilted trimmings, silver belt. Miss Growcott, black and wbite figuired silk marocain. wTith red trimmings. • Mrs Don McCalman, green satin with posy of violets at waist. Miss N; Watson, salmon pink spotted windswept crepe, diamond clasps at neck, Miss J, Watson, blue cloque with fittihg* skirt and diamond clasps at heck. Miss D. WaJsli, apricot taffeta with puff sleeves and full skirt, black velvet sash. Miss E. Wright, lemon cloque with brown collar and fitting skirt. Miss P. Eatwell, ' flame crepe with cowl neck and fitting skirt. Miss P. Wright, salmon pink satin with silver and pink flowers at neck. - Miss Lynch, red taffeta with silver collar and full skirt. Miss D. Landon-Lane, coral pink ninon, long sleeves and full skirt and sash. Miss Pat Minogue, apricot silk net frilled at neck, flared skirt with sash and shoulder spray. Miss J. Minogue, green silk marocain, rucked neck and sleeves, pink spray, black velvet sash, Miss M, Power, cream suede crepe, with girdle and pink spray. Miss K. Boyle, pink mattalese, white girdle and two diamond clasps, Miss V. Dawes, blue floral taffeta, fitting skirt and brilliant at neck. Miss Mary Boyle, black velvet with fitting skirt and black girdle. Miss E. Bayer, red silk crepe rucked with gold, full elbow sleeves. ' Miss M. Williams, . green and white taffeta, flared skirt and green trimmings. Miss E. Pierce, black lace with coatee and fitting skirt. * \ Miss Brodie, red cloque with frilled skirt and di'amante clasp at neck , Miss P. Warren, lemon spot taffeta, trimmed with brown velvet and brown velvet coat. , Miss J. Oarter, green floral chiffon, full skirt, with sash and posy to tone. . Mrs Spenee, check taffeta, skirt flared at knees, black velvet coatee. Miss O. Williamson, blue and black checlc taffeta, fitting skirt flared in front. Miss D. Harton, red sand crepe, fitting skirt, short split sleeveB. Miss A. Edlin, blue satin, quilted hem on- skirt, silver flowers. Miss M. Satchell, pink satin, skirt flared at knees, fur trimmings, pink eape to tone. Mrs J. D. Sullivan (Pirinoa, Wairarapa), henna and lace, full skirt. Mrs J. Bush (Pirinoa, Wairarapa), white lace with satin frills and white fur coatee. Miss M. Unverricht, wbite taffeta with puff gleeves. Miss L. Halligan, figured marocain, ful skirt with sash. Miss Jian Robertson, black taffeta with gold and silver trimmings at neck.
