Stern first and minus her bows, but with her cargo of maize intact, the steamer English Trader was towed recently from Dartmoor to Southampton. She went. ashore on the Check short Rock, near Dartmouth, on January 23, and divers built a new bulkhead in No. 2 hold. The bows were cut away and remained fast on the rocks, to which the steamer dipped her flag in salute as she passed.
