Application of Scientific Methods Despite the extremely cold night, a large audience of Hastings businessmen attended a lecture on "Modern Salesmanship" by Mr Eonald W. Corson, Director of Druleigh College, Auckland, on Tuesday night. Wbile only touching lightly on the technique of salesmanship, Mr - Corson gave a straightforward, commonsense talk on the advantages of applyirig scientific selling methods to business in all its phasos. He quoted instances of the remarkable increases in retail saies that followed the application of modern methods, and illusfrated his points by directing attention to the phenomenal success attained by certain world-wide retail organisations. Mr Corson urged his hearers to read the biographies of successful men and to broaden their outlook.and increase their effieiency by devoting a certain portion of cach day to study.
