By substituting ' sawdnst for aggregates, a Polish engiineer, B. J. Kopele•mez, has produced a new kind of con--crete that "has made it possible .for him to mtroduce a change in house-building methods. It is being manufactured wider the trade name of Cemunit in Poland, and in Eugland, and is be'infT used in both those countries in the form of slabs and beams. In addition to eawdust and cement, the mix includes sand. The material, despite the inflammablp sawdust, is termed fireproof because it ean withstand a temperature of 1832 deg. .F.; it absorbs sound. can be sawn or tnrned like wood: and does 15 spfit or crumble when nailed, In the case of a house erected .apcording to the inventor's plans. the weight rests on steel. .and timber framework, and the interveninir snoces are fllled ift with donble walls of Cemunit senarated by an air tsnace— the outer wall being approximatelv three inches thick and the nnner one about, two inches.
