Two Men Injured

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A woman was killed instantaheously and two men injured, one of them seriously, in a motor-car accident near Cass this afternoon. The car crashed over a bank. Those involved in the accident were: — Killed. Mrsv T. W. VoUer, aged 68, of Worcester street, Christchurch. Injured. Thomas William Voller, .aged 69, fractured skull, broken leg and fractured foreafm. William Booth Lambert, aged 44, fractured wrist and head injuries. Mr. Lambert, driver of the car, a comffiercial traveller, said he was on his way from Christchurch to Greymouth with Mr. and Mrs. Voller as passengers. In the back of the car were several sample cases and other equipment and suddenly when rounding a bend the back wheels seemed to lock and. the car swayed from side to 6ide," becoming out of control and crashing over a bank of 15 to 20 feet with a small creek below. ' The luggage at the back forced the front seat on top of the occupants and they were unable to move. Mr. Lambert regained conscionsness soon after the crash but was unable to move for about an hour. Then assistance came from a passing car. . The Christchurch-Otira excursion train was held at Cass 20 minutes 'while •the injured were placed on board, and; at Springfield the train waited for 10 minutes while the injured were transferred to a St. John ambulance whicL brougbt them to Christchurch.
