( Bt TeljBsrraph-:

NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Agreement with the need to banish jfche growing trend for more ease and luxury and fewer children, approval of amendments to the law and the pro- - vision of any practical means to encourage motherhood and healthy children were expressed by the ActingPrime Minister, Hon. P. Fraser, at a meeting of 500 women at Stratford fo-day. After addresses by Dr. Doris Gordon, Mrs Helen Wilson, O.B.E., and Mr Fraser, the meeting passed a resolution asking the Government to 6et up a commissiQn with a gupreme Court judge as chairman, to recommend legislation to overcome the evils of abortion. Mr Fraser said a commission was not necessary to remedy the law. How far Parliament would be willing to go towards weakening the jury system and that which a modification would involve was a qilestion for Parliament, but it was a problem that must be faced. "It. is a very serious reflection on the jury system," added Mr Fraser, ''and mueh to be deplored that any person should have Teasonable certainty of avoiding tji» consequences of his guilt." j
