WRESTLING
The 'Philosophy of "King Kong" Cox ' ' Eing Kong ' ' Cox, who is - making his second appearance in a New Zealand ring at Hastings on Friday night, had the following to say to a newspaper iriterviewer: — "Before I start out in this eountrv, let .me make this explanation to the public and to those who may be my opponents. When I go into a ring I'm there to win by any and every means allowed under the rulcs of wrestling. As I'm not paying a social call T don't intend to shake hands. There is none of the 'may the best man win' attitude about me. My motto is, 'May Ted Cox win,' and be darned to the formalities. I don't need to take liberties outside the rulee to vfin matches — and I don't intend to. I just warn my opponents that I was never a boy scout and any good deed I 've got to perf orm will be done outside the wrestling ring. I ask no favours, and I offer none. You beat me how you can, when you can, if you caii. I 'II guarantee to do the same by you, If I am a wolf, then I am a wolf in wolf's clothing. Others can play the part of sheep if they want- I'm not interested.' As Cox disposed of the only man untlefented, John Spellman, first time out, he certainly is the "goods," but his opponent, Matros Kirilenko, the Eussian Cossaek, is nobody's play-boy, and his record of only two defeats in sixteen matches is an indication of what patrons will be provided , with when these two star liners clash in Hastings on Friday night. The following are the amateur preliminaries: H. Hawkes v. J, Patterson; H. McAvinue v. C. Hawkes; J. Clark (Palmerston N.) v. J. MeCormaek; E. Anthony (Palmerston N.) v. W. Whittaker. Emergency, A. Skudder v. G. Allingham.
