* Programme for Season At a meeting heid by tlie Hastings brancli of the W.E.A. it was decided, after considering the season 's programme, to study problems of human nature. This course consists of twelve lectnres and deals with modern psychological and biological knowledge in human affairs. They have been written by a biologist, two psychologists and two educatipnists, and deal with the following subjects: Man and civilisation; is man a machine?; the life process; instinet and emotion; intelligence and. rea,son; mental hygiene of the child; the adolescent and the adult (three lectures)"; the family to-day; the ^chool; property as a social institution; man and the future. The fee for the course is 5/-, but it must be clearly understood that the poliey of the W.E.A. is that no student should be turned away owing to inability to pay the fee. . There are other courses of study besides the one mentioned, such as economics, international affairs, literature, psychology, musical appreeiation, drama and opera. The first meeting will be held in Pasadena tea-rooms on Friday evening, June 11, at 8 o'clock.
