A brick garage housing three of the Palmerston North City Council's maintenance motor trucks was the scene of an outbreak of fire early last evening, one of the vehicles being so- completely damaged as to be rendered practically valueless. It was in this truck that the conflagration started, probably through an electrical short, and before the flames were noticed they had assumed large proportions and had spread to two other vehicles parked alongside. The body work of one of these trucks was badly scorched and charred and a tyre ruined. The third truck escaped with scorching of the hood. ' The loss to the City Council must run into £200 or £300. The fire brigade was quickly on the scene and must be credited with a good save considering the eitent to which the flames had a hold on their arri^aL
