CANADA CAUSES Stir At Conference

— Press Assn.

NOT PREPARED TO FIGHT FOR EMPIRE Prefers to Shelter Under America's Wmg PREMIER'S ATTITUDE

TeJegraph-

titeeeiYed 1.0 p.ia.) LONDON, June f. The Australian Associated Tress' political correspondent learns tbat any possibility of the Imperial Confer ence adopting* important resolutions as a result of the foreign affairs discussions, indicating Empire unity on the ruain issues of British policy, haa vanished as a result of the Cail&clian Prime Minister 's, Mr. W L. MaeKenzie King's attitude. It transpires that Mr. MaeKenzie Kingv has been a stumbling block throughout, adopting the attitude that Canada is safe under the United States wing, and that the rest of the Empire should look after itself in the best way it can. It is believed that Mr. MaeKenzie Kjng even went as far as to eay that, while Canada suppofted

MR W. L. MACKENZIE KING the Empire, it was not going to be dragged into any European upset or even fight, say for Egypt or perhaps any part of the Empire. This attitude resulted in today 's meeting of the heads of the Empire delegations having to reeast the foreign policy resolutions drafted as a result of earlier speeches. It ' is understood that tliese resolutions provided for Empire nnity on certain questions, iucluding support of the League of Nations.
