HOLIDAY TO-MORROW
Hastings Post Office Honrs To-morrow will be observed throughout the British Empife as a close' holiday, in lieu of the actual date, December 9, on which the King's birthday falls, which it was found, from experience last year, caused inconvenieace because it oecurred during the rush. period of trade preceding Cbristmas. As a general rule, snops in Hastings will close, but dairies and shops selling drinks and ice-cream will observe their usual Sunday hours. The Hastings Post Office will observe a close holiday and the public counters will be closed. Mails for dispatch will close at the usual times up to 8.5 a.m., after which no mails will be made up. Street pillar-boxes will be cleared at 5 a.m. No postmen's deliveries will be made, but a delivery of letters, including registered, usually delivered by postmen, will be made over the counter between 7 and 8 o'clock to-night. . The telegiraph office will be open from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the telephone exchange will provide a continuous service.
