RABAUL 'QUAKE

Residents Not Anxious To Return BABAIJL, June 4. The situation hetween the Administration and local firms is growing rather tenso owing to the taking over of foodstuffs by the former. The firms defimtely do not approve of xeturning to Babaul and are making extensive arrangerixents to remain in Kokopo, fearful of a repetition of the outbreak, which seemingly is unwarranted. A local paper to-day issued a special evacuation number and urges the marking of time before finality is reached. . Sir Walter Carpenter, according to the Sydney Sun, estimates the damage to his company's property at Babaul at £35,000, only £10,000 of which is not covered by insurance. The damage to the shipping is approximately ' £25,000 and is covered by marino policies.
