After an exciting chase along Victoria street, Hamilton, shortiy before mid-day on Thur'sday, a member Of the Bank of New Zealafid staff detained a young man who, it is alleged, presented a fofged Cheque at the bank a few minutfe's before. It appears that the young man Walked into the bank and presented a cheque for a -little under £20 for payment. The cheque waS submitted to on© of the officers of the bafik for serutiny, and he refused td paSs it. In the meantime the person who presented the cheque appafently became alarmed at the delay and rau out of the bank. One of the staff was sent off in pursuit and after a chase he caught him.. The man was brought baok to the bank and handed over to the Hamilton police.
