Breeding Ewes Dearer FAT SHEEP FIRM PALMERSTON N„ This Day. Stormy weather conditiona blew up in Feilding while the weekly live stock sale wds in progress yesterday* but the hsavy rain, showers failed to have any depressing influence upon the 'general buoyaney of the market. All sections • enjoyed a good sale. Fat sheep sold well up to late rates with a flrming tendency in regard to ewe mutton, which registered a slight advanee on last week's quotations. Store sheep sold at rates in advanee of those realised last week, with a keen demand for both breeding ewes and wether lambs. The price ievel for ewe iambs rose sharply to 35s, a record for the current season. This was obtained by Mr H. J, Burrell, oi' Bunnythorpe, for a very nice line of 150 well-grown ewe lambs. In the matter of cattle, dairy lines found a ready market at values in advanee of late quotations, while beef and store lines fully maintained late rates. The fat sheep section was represented by an entry of 1600, comprising Over 500 iambs, 600 ewes and approximately 400 wethers. The sheep were generally in- good condition, although not as heavy. as the offering of the previous week.
