RETURN TO GOLD
British Conditions Have Not Changed {British Official Wireless.) (Received 4, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, June 3. In the House of Commons the Chancellor of the Exchequer, when asked to give the same assurance as given by his predecessor that the country would not return to the gold standard until satisfled that the causes which brought about the downfall of the gold standard in 1931 /' were removed and wero not likely to reeur, replied that the conditions necessary before a retura to the gold standard would be possible had been clearly indicated in previous declarations which continued to represent the policy of .the Govermnent on that subject.
