GUILD MUSIC CIRCLE

Meeting in Napier A very enjoyable evening was spent ou Tuesday when the musical circle of the Napier Townswomen's Guild gave its monthly meeting. Mrs. J. A. Eosewarne was in the chair, and before pro- ■ ceeding with the business part mention was made of the passing in Loudon oi thfe guild 's most esteemed chairwoman, Mrs. Henley. All members stood as a mark of respect. A very enjoyable programme of opera music was then presented. The choir opened with the part soug "Angels ' That Around Us Hover," from "Maritana." Therd followed a . solo, "The Hours Creep on Apace," from "H.M.S. Pinafore," by Miss F. Moss; solo, "My Heart Is Weary,'.' from "Nadeshda," -by Mrs. P. C. Sorrell; solo, "Poor Wandering One," from "Pirates of Penzance," Mrs. "R. Sowter; solo, "Knowest Thou the Land," from ' ' Mignon, " Mrs. H. Berry; solo, "As Thro' the Street," from "La Boheme," Mrs. Cecil Nicholson; duets, "There Was a Time'Vand "Oh, Rapline," from "Gondoliers,,> Mesdames Sorrell and Berry. Mesdames Sorrell and Berry gave their items in costame, and this added to the enjoyment of the eWning and made their items very enjoyable.
