SUCCESSFUL DANCE ORGANISED BY THE STAFF OF ROACHS' LTD. A very successful ^pcid jolly ctance was held in the Oddfellows' Hall Jast evening, which had been organised by the staff of Roachs' Ltd., in aid. of the Hawke's Bay Children's Homes. The hall was filled to capacity and a spirit of gaiety prevailed during the evening. The atage wpa gaily decorated with palms and . tall jardinieres of silverbacked leaves and natural foliage, and °n the stage was Les Henry'g orchestra, who played splendid dance musio throughout the evening. A tempting supper was set out in the aupper-room, where the long tables were decorated with tall crysfal vases of purple and bronze chrysanthemums and fern, The committee who were in charge of the arrangements were Mrs B. Daley, honorary secretary, the Misses E. Burden, E. Carter and A. Sandersen, and Messrs V. Unverricht, B. Orr, J. Wilson and P. Lassen. Among those present were: Mrs Gordon Boach, who wore a gown of black mariette with s'mall floral design and a coatee of gold shimmer satin. Miss Erica Boach, plaid taffeta in deep blue coin-spotted charmelaine .with a clasp of brilliants at the neck. M.rs B. Daley, deep blue coin-spotted charmelaine with a olasp of brilliants at the neck. Miss A. Sanderson} white taffeta with design in red, green and black arid shaded red flowers at the neck. Miss Ethel Burden, ocean blue selfspotted satin with a corsage posy of pink flowers. Mrs A. C. Scoon, black taffeta with a bertha etfect of georgette beautifully beaded with large black beads. Mrs R. Gray, gold self-patterned crepe-blackened satin with a posy of violet shaded flowers. Mrs J. Puff, floral silk in sbades oi red, blue, gree nand gold with a sasli of red. Mrs H. Morton, black georgette gown with .pink flowers at the neck. Mrs G. Rosoman, apricot lace with a cowled neckline caught with briiliant clasps. Mrs r. h. Miles, gown of flame chiffon with a velvet coatee in a deeper shade with silver trimming, Miss Mavis Burden, very deep green velvet with a gold belt and gold lame trimming the corsage. Miss Enid Burden, sky blue net over taffeta with tiny fridls trimming the very full skirt. Mss M. Addis, rose pink lace lrock and coatee with organdie sleeves. Miss H. Hutt, deep reseda green satin royale with scarf draperies from the shoulders. Miss A. Calder, Kenya red matelasso with gold belt clasp and matching gold clasp at the neck. Miss N. Tricklebank, sea green taffeta with silver flowers at the neck and si'lver button trimming. Miss J. Masterman, apricot taffeta with a flared skirt of floral taffeta and piain coatee. Miss G. Williams, sunset shot taffeta with handmade velvet flowers at the neck. Miss E. McCormick, deepest green panne velvet with cowled neckline and puffed sleeves. Mrs M. HASTINGS REGIMENTAL BADMINTON CLUB DANCE The social committee of the Hastings Kegimental Badminton Club arranged a very jolly dance, which was held ?n the Barrie Studio, Hastings, last evening. Owing to many other attractions the number present was not very large but all agreed that the evening was xaost enjoyable. Excellent dance muaic was played by Gordon Eedward's orchestra, and several competition dances were included in the programme. The winners of these were: Musical foxtrots, Miss Tfill and Mr Taylor, Miss E. Smith and Mr J. Caves; Monte Carlo, Miss M. Satchwell and Mr Devenie. The studio was gaily decorated with multi-coloured balloons, while in the centre of the stage was hung a .beautiful banner with the letters H.R.B.0 , and from this were suspended streamers iji the club colours, green, lemon, black and white. The decorations wero the work of Miss V. Batt, who also made the banner. A tempting supper was enjoyed during the evening, this having been arranged by the ladies' committee, the Misses V. and J. Batt, O. Newland, and M. Garnett. The.gentlemen's committee was: Mr 0. Jonson, hon. secretary, who also cav* ried out the duties of M.C.j and Messrs K. Wilson and E. Curtis. Mrs G, Gray, deepest brown chiffon 'velvet with long sleeves cartridge pleated on the shoulders and a green girdle. Williamson, black velvet gown with insets of silver lame in the cape sleeves and corsage. Miss J. Bateman, aavy blue satin with silver spots, having puffed sleeves and silver flowers at the neck. Miss E. Heeney, magnolia net over taffeta, the full. skirt finished with circles of red velvet flowers and a matching sash. Miss O.
