Jersey Heifers SHANGHAI MILK SUPPLY On order from two leading dairjdng firms in Shanghai, a valuable eonsignment of 40 heifers in calf, most of them grade Jerseys, left Auckland for Chjna on Wednesday by the Japanese motor vessel Sydney Maru. Five of the heifers' were Shorthorn- Jersey cross, and the whole shipment has been selected from the herds of Messrs R. and A. Crawford, of Onewhero. It is nnderstood that a sum of neaHy £2000 was involved in the deal. Becoming interested in the high quality and milking capacities of New Zealand dairy cattle, the Shanghai aairies ordered a trial shipment— one of the first to be sent from New Zealand to the Far East. The shipper, Mr Alexander S. Tetzner, himself a farmer, sees in it great possibilities for the development of an export trade which would open new avenues of income to the farmers of the Pominion,
