Good Work at Hastings Club VALUE OF TRAINING Tbe Hastings Gymnastic Club's Gymnasium bas been a bive of activity during tbe past few weeks, now tbat most wrestlers and boxers bave settled down to serious training in anticipation of a strenuous season abead. Wbile watching the various classes, wrestling, boxing and gymnastics, one cannot fail to appreciato tbe longwanted service tbis gymnasium is offering to tbe public of Hastings, every type of sport being catered for. Anotber pleasing feature .is tbe special classes for children, wben tbe youngsters may take np any sport they fancy under expert instructors, and receive a tborougb training, wbicb will undoubtedly prove of great advantage to tbem in later years, not only physically but also mentally and morally. Wrestling Notes. We note witb pleasure that Herb Brinson bas been matcbed to wrestle in Hastings on June 25, bis opponent to be either A. Antonovieh or A. Reid, of Gisborne. Both tbese men are very well performed, more partieularly Reid, who, during a tbree-year tour of Australia and Soutb Africa, defeated quite a number of prominent wrestlers, including Jack Kent, wbo built up a fine reputation as an amateur in tbis district a few years ago, and is at present holding his own against some of tbe hardest wrestlers in tbe world. Johnny Boyd continues to put in some good work, and is improving with every m'atcb. Oongratulations to A. Lewis for putting up sucb a fine performance last week. As tbis was bis first appearance in tbe ring be should develop into a very attractive wrestler. Anotber noviee wbo performed well last week is Radall. For a beginner tbis lad is sbowing great promise. Georgo Drayson has been on tbe sick list for some time, but is looking fit aad well again now, and should not be long geting baclc to form. . Anotber newcompr to tbe district is Peeti, recently transferred from Dannevirke. According to gossip, a num-' ber of attempts were made to matcb hira with Jurie Thompson last yeaT without success. As Thompson is very keen to get a matcb, there should be no troubie in bringing tbese two together at lae?t. Welcome back to George Doaldn, wbo bas been abseufc on boliday, but is in acticm again now, and putting bis pupils through tbeir paees.
