Unusual Goal Scored Against Waratahs WOMEN NEED :C0ACHING
(By '
Kiwi seniors have been strengthened • by the piromotion of h couple of. last ' year's juniors. Kronk, captain of last season 's juniors, is doing well in the forward line of the seniors. This is his Jhird season of hockey, and he is one t£ the. most promising aspirants .seen ro'r some time. Edmnnason is also doing well in the senior team, -and hai hrell justified his promotion. ' The first goal for Kiwi seniors on Saturday came within the first two minutes of play and in rather a pecn* ji ar manner. The WaTatahs' go'alm «as beading down' fastening his hockejj boots on, evidently not expecting ari xttack so soon, but the Kiwi forwards dribbled down the field, slipped past a full-.back, and then with a spoon shot iifted the ball over the goalie's shoui* Xer into the net. The goalkeeper look' ed aazed for a moment, then went ou fastening his boot-ldces. Napier women are in for a bad run unless the forward line makes up tq sfie* advantages of working together, Last season their combination wa,s goocd Out one or two changes in the team this season have made a lot of differ-. ence. Their coach, Mr. A. Eowe, willneed to give them a lot of practice . together if they are to get anywhero near the top of the ladder. Clive women do not put enough dash Into their forward play, especially in the centre. In hoekey, as in Kugby^ the forwards should be always '"on the ball" when in their opponents* Auarters.
