Danger to Users of Road Below NEED OF SUPPORT The necessity for immediate provision for the supporting of the fa'ce of Bluff Hill, Napier, to avoad danger to users of the Breakwater road was mentioned b'y the "Hoh. W. E. Barnard, M.P., during a discussion at the meeting last evening of the Port Ahuriri Progressive Association. He- intimatod that he would "place "the matter before the actihg-Mimster'of Labour, the" Hon. P. C. Webb,' during his' visit to " Napier on Saturday. - * - - • "The Harbour Board raised the question of making the Bluff secure r'ather more. than a year ago," said MrTBarnard. "It is a danger all the time, and if you wish. it I will- once more put the questi.o'n before Mr Webb when he coniee on Saturday. It is a big job, and a necessary job, but. I am not sure that anyone knows quite how to taekle it. Th.e fit men wh'o are to be taken .from. sustenance could be placcd upon it. ' ' * . Members agreed • that if the. Napiei liarbour -were to be finally settled at the Breakwater it Was vitally necessary to ensure that free access to the wharf was not endangered. At present there was a definite danger from the Bluff, both to those working at the Breakwater and to. those who used the road approaching it from the Port or from Napier. The question of tho closed Toad to tlie Breakwater was also discussed. This Toad, said members; had bpeu closed for some time, and was used at tho motorist's or cyclist 's risk- because^, of tbe danger ; from the "Bluff. • It was decided iiiially to ask Mi Barnaid to place the matter before the Minister.
