INEFFICIENT BRAKES
The brakes on "defendant's van were in such bad order that at 20 ljiiles an hour it took 327 feet to stop it, alleged Traffic-Ofiicer D. Mann when Charles Bertram Rayner was charged in the Hastings Magistrate' s Court this morning with operating a motor vehicle vvith ineffective brakes; The Magistrate, Mr. J, Miller, remarldng that such a vehicle was a monaco on the road, imposed a fine of £3. with costs 10/-. Mr, Mann said he would ask for a severo penalty in cases wliere mqtorists wero so careless as to operate vehieles without eli'ective brukes.
