Renewals and Transfers NAPIER COMMITTEE No commeut on tke general conduct of Napier hotels was made by tke Napier Liceijsing Committee at tke annual liieeting at tke Napier Courtkouse yesterday. Applieations for tke renewals of iicences, transfers, and issues of new Jicences were granted in ali cases except for tke Clarendon Hotel, wliick was adjourned until tlie eontplelion of repairs deemed neee&sary by tke eominittee. Kent said tkat a contraet for tbe necessary repairs to tke Clarendon Hotel had been let, and tkat work had commenced in tke past few days. This e.jvered most of tke requirements of the i'ommittee, tke otker matters being ro ino r ones tkat were deemed to be the duty o£ tke Heensee. "This is a very old building, ' ' commented Mr Miller, ' ' and it de a question whetker a new hotel skouid not be Intilt in place of it.n Mr Kent explained tkat it was fecognised tkat tke building was eoming to the end of its natural life, and tkat the repairs being carried out might only reViive it for about two years, but thal a meeting of beneficiaries in the estate controlling tke building was skortly to be keld in Auckland where the question eonld be fully discussed. Tbe applieation for the renewal of the licenee of Mary Frances Theresa Waugk an respect to tke kotel wras adjourned by tke eommittec until tke necessary repairs skonid kave been completed at tlie next quarterly meeting of tke committee.
