New Railway Station; Scheme of Irrigation MAYOR * CALUNG MEETING Several important meetings concerning a variety of topics of general interest to ihe community are due to take place in Hastings within the next week or so, and arrangements are now being made by the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Maddison, to call them. Mr. Maddison- is calling a meeting for June 8 of those interested in the jreconstruetion of the Hastings Railway Station and in inattets generally concerning fhe railway in hastings. This meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m. The following evening, at 7.30 •'clock, there will be a meeting of the committee set up to administer the Lord duffield Fund. A big number of applications for assistance from this fund Iiave been reeeived, and investigations are now being conducted. ' The xueeting will discuss what is to be dorie with the balance of the tund still in ha'nd. The next big meeting will be on June 14, when there will be assembled representatives of those mterested in the proposed irrigation scheme for Hawke's Bay and in particular the districts elose to Hastings. This meeting will also take place in the jCouneil Ckambers, beginning at 2.30 p.m. . '
