Industrial Leaders Appea! To Labour (Eeceived 1, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, kfay 33. 'Ihe heads of 18 of the largest industrial concerns in Britain, lueluding Lever Eros. Ltd., Dunlops Ltd., and the Imperial Tobaeco Co. Ltd., have sent a letter to The Times declaring that the Prime Minister, Mr Neville Chamberlain, was little infiuenced by the views of the chambers of commerce, shipping and industrial organisations iu submitting a new version of the defence tax. The letter'adds that the bewildering complexities of the original draft can only operate to the detriment of the national interest. The signatoriea take the astonishing step of appealing to the Opposition to persuade the Government to have. the prcposals re-examined. Mr H. Dalton will move, the rejection of the Finance Bill in the House of Uepresentatives on behalf of the Opposition, on the ground that it ineans an unbalanced Buclget, that it fails to deal ndequately with profiteeriug in arins or to raise an equitable sliare o-f the cast l'fom those, who are best able lo bear Lho burtlen.
