WAIROA, Last Night.. The Rev. W. Raeburn, retired Minister of St. Andrew's Presbyttrian Church, Wairoa, attained his 93rd. birthday ou Saturday. To rnark the eyeut Station 2ZP sent over the air a kindiy greeting at 9 a.m. and in the afternoon something in the nature of a surprise party took place at the agod Minister's home in Clyde rpad. There were present; Mesdames Catley, Johansen, Stevens M} A. Torr, A. B. Smith, M. Whealen, H. Christensen, J. W. AlacDonald, G. Simpsoa, W. Whyte, Misses M. Raeburn and J\J . WheaJen, Mr. and Mrs. T. Lambert and Mr. T. Browne. The guest of honour, who still preserves all his faculties, delivered an address which was mainly reminiscent of his service for the Master in the Wairoa Church of early days, interspersed with many words of wise counsel. A number of those present, in addition. to joining in the general congratulations, tendered their best respect to one who had been their guide, philosopher and friend for over half a century. The surprise party provided ample refreshments, also a'splendid birthday cake bearing 93 candles, which were dealt with in record time. A large number of telegrams was received during the day from various parts of the Doroinion, and the gathering broke up with the singing of "God Jie With You Till We Meet Again," after the Minister had thanked all for the kindiy thought that had prompted the visit.
