Incidentally, this will be the first occasion on which we will be giving an actual account of the methods adopted to obtain the information." Thus Mr I .J.' Pohlen, of the-Soil Survey Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, this morning when commenting to a HeraltlTribnne representative on the . address which he and! the director, Dr L. I. Grange, and other experts eoncerned in the Survey of Land IJtilisation in Hawke's Bay will be giving on Wednesday morning at'the annual meeting of sheepfarmers at Massey College, Palmerston North. Mr Pohlen said that it had been arranged for an hour's talk iQ be given by four speakera on some of the more important aspects and results of the survey. The Idea was to give a general outline of the survey, the progress to date and some of the proved eonclusions that had been drawn from the investigations. Certain specific aspects would also he covered in the series of talks, whieh he said would he in the nature of a "popular scientific account of what is being done." - The director, Dr Grange, and Mr Pohlen will deal with the general outline of the survey, with particular reference to soils. The work regarding pastures will be dealt with by Mr E. A. Madden, of the Grasslands Division of the Plant Research Bureau. and the question of farm management will be covered by Mr R. P. Connell, of the Fields Division of tbe Department of Agriculture,
