RED CROSS PRESIDENT

Mrs. T. H. Lowry Re-elected to Office n.z. council . meets Tributes to the work on behalf of the New Zealand Red Cross Society of the president, Mrs 1\ H. Lowry, O.B.E., were paid last week, at the annual meeting of the society's council ia Wellington, .when she was re-elected to her office. Dr A. Gillies was eleeted Dominion chairman. Sister Stringer was appointed for another I2-month term. The president reported that arrangements had been made with the League of Red Cross Societies in Paris to send Mr de Gielgud through New Zealand, from Auckland about September 20. He is the under-secretary for the league, and will have a nionth in the Dominion. Mrs Lowry and Sister Stringer were requested by the council to accompany Mr de Gielgud throughout liis tour. Dr Gillies may bc able to join the 1:ou* part of the time. .
