Mr ilaurice Ahsop, a farmer, was the vic- | tim. The, 'hoaxer tricked tradesmen with 35 postcards bearing orders in Mr Alsop's name. Nearly all of them rpsponded. Every butcber in Lea sent meat. Cars came to take Mr Alsop to Swindon market. Tliirty gallons of iu bricating oil were dumped alqngside three dozen bottles of beer, two gallons of whisky, tous of coal, and stacks of ckeese. j (
